ImageShack Launches Video Service for Twitter

ImageShack's Yfrog Provides High Quality Video Service For Twitter Users and Developers

LOS GATOS, Calif.--ImageShack Corp., the largest independent image hosting website with over 33 million monthly unique visitors, today announced that yfrog (www.yfrog.com), a media sharing service for Twitter, supports video uploads and playback.

Yfrog users now can share any video file type to Twitter by visiting yfrog.com or by using any application that supports yfrog's APIs. Yfrog's use of the advanced H.264 codec makes it possible for users to enjoy high quality video on their personal computer or iPhone. Yfrog is the first Twitter-enhancing service to combine the ability to stream video files from both the browser and mobile devices. Videos uploaded to yfrog can be viewed on Apple iPhone or iPod.

Loren Brichter, Tweetie developer and CEO of atebits LLC today also announced that Tweetie, a leading Twitter client for Mac, supports yfrog's video service. Brichter said, "Tweetie users now can easily share video files, video chats, or video streams to Twitter from the Tweetie client. We are thrilled to partner with yfrog for this service because we know it is supported by Imageshack's reliable back-end."

Yfrog's APIs are free to use and publicly available. Developers using Yfrog's APIs can benefit from:

* High quality (H.264) video playback

* iPhone-optimized video playback (over both 3G and WiFi networks)

* Ads-free iPhone media player

* Fast and free one-click media hosting through Yfrog.

In February, Imageshack launched yfrog.com on top of the same infrastructure that supports Imageshack.com. Yfrog requires no registration and is free to use. ImageShack CEO Jack Levin said, "We have been in the media hosting business since 2004, and we are excited about offering both photo and video solutions for the Twitter community."
